Last season, due to the Covid-19 guidelines, the Marine Band of the Royal Netherlands Navy could not be heard in its complete composition. However, it was the start of a long-term collaboration with Theater aan het Vrijthof, where the ensemble will be responsible for the opening of the cultural season every year.

This year the full line-up, consisting of 52 musicians, will be the start of the 2021-2022 season. In the program ‘Zo wijd de wereld strekt’ (as wide as the world goes) you will hear symphonic wind music of a high standard, a dazzling big band repertoire and accessible folk music. The title of this non-stop matinee program refers to the motto of the Marine Corps ‘Qua Patet Orbis’, as wide as the world goes.
