Each year, the programming of Musica Sacra Maastricht is built up from the defining and guiding role of a central theme. With unorthodox choices and original angles, we want to show how surprisingly universal and topical the chosen themes are. This means, among other things, that many programs are produced especially for Musica Sacra and therefore premiere during the festival.

We are originally a music festival and in 2021 this discipline is still the core business. The music programming covers the full breadth of genres, styles and eras, supplemented with unique premieres and festival and composition assignments, performed by national and international top musicians and ensembles and new, young talent. In addition to this music programming, an extensive program of theatre, film, lectures, exhibitions, dance and (foot) trips/excursions is also offered.
