PINKSTER CONCERT: TANGO MAESTRO – Royal Harmony – Sainte Cécile Eijsden

PINKSTER CONCERT: TANGO MAESTRO – Royal Harmony – Sainte Cécile Eijsden

Koninklijke Harmonie Sainte Cécile Eijsden conducted by conductor Jan Cober will give a festive and colorful Whitsun concert.

After two years of being unable to perform due to the pandemic, the musical zest for life is bursting from the stage. It has been 101 years since master composer and tango innovator Astor Piazzolla was born. His tango opera “Maria de Buenos Aires” is the highlight of this concert. Soloists are Lucie van Ree, mezzo-soprano, and Rufus Hegeman, duende/actor.

The Argentine bandoneonist Santiago Cimadevilla also plays an important role.

“Tango Maestro! †

“The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra” by Benjamin Britten and the flute concerto “Titelles” by Llorenc Mendoza i Ruiz with soloist Gitte Vinclair-Nijsten complete this very varied programme.

After two years of silence, Jan Cober and the Sainte Cécile concert band pull out all the stops and show what they have in terms of color brilliance. All this in collaboration with the soloists.

This homage to Astor Piazzolla and the tango, and to symphony and wind music, becomes a festive celebration of musicality—for the listeners and for the musicians.
