Puccini / La Bohème

Puccini / La Bohème

Nationale Opera from Odessa in coproduction with MTSM

The opera of all operas
The National Opera of Odessa is bringing one of Puccini’s most beautiful operas to Heerlen. No fewer than 120 people are involved in this impressive production.

The Italian composer Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924) was close to everyday life with the subjects of his operas. For example, La Bohème, which premiered in Turin in 1896, tells the story of the poor poet Rodolfo who is in love with the seamstress Mimì. However, she suffers from a fatal illness and after a short separation she dies in Rudolfo’s arms.

Compellingly beautiful

La Bohème is about the rash loves and high ideals of poor young Parisian artists. On the waves of the emotional and compelling story, gaiety and immense drama alternate in beautiful melodies in this opera of all operas. The production will be performed in Heerlen by Italian top soloists, the choir and the orchestra of the National Opera of Odessa. No fewer than 120 people work in front of and behind the scenes.

With a fascinating introduction by opera connoisseur Len van Schaik.

Sung in Italian, without surtitles.

The entire cast of this production comes from Ukraine. Parkstad Limburg Theaters participates with full conviction in the national action within the cultural sector to show solidarity and express compassion and support for Ukraine and its inhabitants. We support these Ukrainian artists by keeping this performance on sale until there is more clarity about the continuation of this performance. If the company cannot come and play, we will look for a suitable alternative in consultation with the producer.
