Iconic British rock group The Zombies comes to Heerlen with their mega hit ‘Time of the Season’
The revival of the iconic British rock group The Zombies at the beginning of this century was a blessing for the pop world. With their roots in the memorable sixties, they jumped into the new century with ease and they are far from done with their fans. And vice versa; their loyal following spans the generations. Today’s young music lovers are just as moved by vocal gems like ‘She’s not there’ and ‘Time of the Season’ as their peers in the band’s early years. With 21st century successes like ‘Still Got That Hunger’, the band continues its triumphant tour with the same passion as in its early years.

The Comeback
The comeback is due to founding members Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent, who in 1967 decided to pull the plug on the band in favor of their solo careers. Blunstone scored hits like “Say You Don’t Mind” and “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted” and he made “Old and Wise” with The Alan Parsons Project. Rod Argent founded his own band ARGENT, which caused a furore with titles such as ‘Hold your head up’ and ‘God gave rock and roll to you’. However, the blood crept where it can’t go and in 2000 Blunstone and Argent decided to give The Zombies a second life. New blood was added to the band with drummer Steve Rodford, guitarist Tom Toomey and bassist Sören Koch, who succeeded bassist Jim Rodford, who died much too young in 2018.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
A long-awaited triumph for The Zombies was their entry into the famous Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March 2019. Well-deserved honor for a ‘primal band’ that has had such a major influence on pop music with their psychedelic songs. The Hall of Fame ceremony took place fifty years to the day after the band’s “Time of the Season” hit the US charts with its first #1 hit. At that time, no other English band apart from The Beatles had succeeded and that says enough.
