WArd/waRD – Ann Van den Broek

WArd/waRD – Ann Van den Broek

The Balancing Act

A balanced performance at the intersection of dance and performance.
After dark themes and exuberant emotions in Joy Enjoy Joy, Ann Van den Broek searches for balance in The Balancing Act. Balance in body, in mind, between emotions, in how we deal with time, in our daily lives and in her choreographic work.

This search translates into a balanced performance, which undulates in flowing movements into an almost meditative trans. For The Balancing Act, Ann Van den Broek has once again studied and researched the human body in detail. The body as scales. Everything works together. Every joint, every muscle. Just so as not to fall.

In The Balancing Act, Ann also experiments with live video images, sound and light effects. Roles between dancer and musician blur and mingle. The performers manipulate sound, light and images with music pedals. Looking for the right volume, the right sharpness or a beautiful light in which life can be enjoyed. This creates a lively, installation-like setting along the boundaries of dance and performance.
