The third weekend of September, the Maastricht city center is entirely dedicated to Musica Sacra Maastricht. The four-day festival is always based around an annually changing theme that fulfills the key role throughout the program, which consists of about 100 program components each year.

The program covers the full breadth of genres, styles and eras, performed by national and international top musicians and ensembles with new and young talent. In addition to music programming, an extensive program of theater, film, dance, exhibitions, lectures and excursions is offered. Many program components are specially produced for Musica Sacra Maastricht and will premiere during the festival.

Musica Sacra Maastricht has evolved since the eighties of the last century from a European festival of religious music to a broadly programmed arts festival with top music from all times and takes place in Theater aan het Vrijthof and on many special locations in the historic city center of Maastricht.

Festival themes of recent years were: ‘The way’ (2015), ‘Sacrifice of Love’ (2016), ‘In the Beginning’ (2017), ‘Reciprocate – Forgive – Reconcile’ (2018) and ‘Praying & Begging’ (2019).

The tickets are sold out for most events. Check Maastrichter and Musica Sacra Web site for tickets.
