Good news for all the fans of the popular Netflix series Queen’s Gambit! Foundation “Limburg schaakt” and the Maastricht chess club came up with the idea of placing an outdoor chess game at Plein 1992. The set (consisting of a chessboard of 4 by 4 meters and chess pieces of 64 cm high) will be placed very near to Centre Céramique. The government hopes it will be a positive addition to the atmosphere on the square. 

They hope to officially open the game in July 2021, but this is all depending on the developments around COVID-19.
